Nii kwate owoo on his film you hide me
Ghanaian filmmaker Kwate Nii Owoo gained access to the British Museum's underground deposits and filmed the valuable African artefacts stored in the basement. With a skilful mix of cunning and audacity, Owoo managed to outsmart the museum management and the entire security system to get into the secret underground vaults. One day was enough to show the extent of the theft of African art stashed in plastic bags and wooden crates. Director Nii kwata owoo talked to Agustina Andreoletti (RJM) about the significance of the making and distribution of this film in the 1970s and its relevance today, 50 years later.
